Xiaomi is currently taking reservations for its Wi-Fi 6E-enabled router, the Mi AX6000, in China ahead of its release. This event has been amplified with a new clip designed to show just how well the new product serves a user's devices, particularly those from its own ecosystem.
The video depicts a project in which an iPhone 12 Pro Max and Xiaomi Mi 11 were placed at various distances away from the new router, left in the center of an empty open-air stadium (not rare in these times). It resulted in findings that the latter device benefited from better Wi-Fi speeds compared to the former, regardless of location relative to the new home accessory.
Despite the patent comment-magnetism of this little sequence (the unfair comparison between the iPhone’s inescapably last-gen Qualcomm FastConnect 6800 Wi-Fi platform and the 6900 found in the Snapdragon 888-powered Mi 11 is an easy start alone), the essential message of the Mi AX6000’s advantages (on paper, at least) is less dismissible.
Its Wi-Fi 6E status should give it 160MHz channels, advanced tri-band configurations and maximal speeds of 3.6Gb/s. It also has that convincing multi-antenna design and is priced at just 599 yuan (~US$92; which is admittedly a great deal for a new high-end router) in China.
Therefore, some consumers might hope it will become available in other markets, and for a similar cost, soon.
